Chakra meditation to balance each Chakra

The word “chakra” is a much-used phrase, especially with the new-age groups. But looking back, the roots of the words could be found several centuries behind, in the BC era. “Chakra” is a Sanskrit word and has references in many ancient Indian and Buddhist texts and scriptures. Chakra means a wheel and the wheel is a subtle hint to everything running smoothly. The “chakras” inside the human body is visually described as seven wheels that start running upwards from the spine to the abdomen, then to the midline of the body, then the heart, the throat, the pituitary gland and finally the brain. These chakras are associated with important nerves and organs of a body and are the storehouses of positive energy. 

Chakra meditation is needed for the optimal functioning of the chakras. When the chakras are blocked, positive energy that is flowing through the body suddenly meets with obstacles and results in both physical and mental discomfort. For example, if you are having an obstruction in the throat chakra you will suffer from a tickling in your throat that results in a cough and that just would not go away. The chakras, as spiritual healers, are often referred to as the traffic lights of the body. If they operate smoothly, the body and mind are filled with positivity and vital energy. 

The importance of chakra meditation

The amazing chakra meditation might seem a bit of a flutter to you at the beginning. The mind-body connection, the manifestation of unseen energy from the universe channelling inside your body might seem an alien concept to you. How to balance each chakra

As discussed at the beginning of the article, there are seven chakras and here are the different ways of meditation to balance each chakra.

  • Root Chakra: The root chakra is located in our spine and is associated with the general needs of the body and mind. The best chakra meditation to balance the root chakra is to walk barefooted on the ground and to feel the connection between the earth and the body. If you are feeling safe and centred when you are surrounded by earthly energies, then your root chakra is balanced.
  • Sacral Chakra: The sacral chakra is located in our abdomen and is considered to be the powerhouse of energy for creating a perfect balance of creativity and sexuality. Crystal meditation is the best way to strengthen your sacral chakra. Hold the crystal in your hands, close your eyes and take deep calming breaths. Lie on your back comfortably for the next 11 minutes and feel the vibe from the crystal healing your blocked chakra.
  • Solar Plexus Chakra: The solar plexus chakra located at the lower abdomen is the controller of self-confidence. If you are feeling an imbalance with this chakra, you can try to meditate by deep-belly breathing. Once you feel that your body and mind are in tune, think of taking control of your to-do list for the day with elegance, poise and grace and that will help heal the solar plexus chakra.
  • Heart Chakra: The heart chakra controls our capacity to love and to show compassion to others. It’s located near the heart and is considered the beginning of the upper chakras. Yoga is the best way of encountering any problems faced with the obstruction of the heart chakra. Meditating on everything in life that you are grateful for helps you to balance the heart chakra.
  • Throat Chakra: Throat chakra helps in communication, it helps us to be verbal about our feelings and stand about a problem. Imbalance or obstruction in throat chakra might lead you to feel cut-off from life. Meditation with crystals and essential oils helps in easing the throat chakra and purifying the chakra during meditation.
  • Third-Eye Chakra: The third-eye chakra is located between the pituitary gland. It helps us to think beyond the present. Imbalance in this chakra might make a person feel imbalanced or anxious about the future. The best way of strengthening intuition and toning down the sense of fear is to meditate regularly. Regular meditation arouses a sense of purpose and thereby balances the chakras.
  • Crown Chakra: The Crown Chakra is located in our brain. This chakra helps us to feel one with the positive forces of the universe. To balance this chakra, it is of essence that your roots are firmly bound to the ground. To balance this chakra, you need to sit straight, relax and feel your root chakra connecting with the earth as your feet touch the floor, now as you meditate feel the cosmic energy filling you like a blooming full-petaled lotus.

Practising these steps of chakra meditation is essential in keeping up the balance and the flow of the positive energy of all the chakras.
